About the Laboratory

Our research focuses on surface functionalization of materials for advanced applications. This can be achieved by either thin film deposition or surface modification by texturing processes, such as laser patterning and optical lithography. The fine control of these processes are carried out under Clean Room conditions, which allows tailoring the chemical, physical and biological properties of functional surfaces.

Research opportunities

We look for technicians with a background on experimental science and disponibility to work partial time for at least one year. The main responsibilities are: management of the Laboratory resources in collaboration with the Laboratory leader, planning of experiments in collaboration with the rest of the research team, maintenance of the order and cleaning of the Laboratory, lead new staff training on Laboratory safety and clean room protocols. Financial support is available through external and internal sources.

If you are interested, contact the Laboratory leader, Prof. Esteban Ramos (evramos@uc.cl).

We look for undergraduate students from Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Engineer programs from different universities, who would like to have an Interdisciplinary research experience. You will receive a training on Laboratory safety and clean room protocols, in order to learn how to properly work independently and in collaboration with the rest of the research team. Yo can develop practices from 1 month to 1 year, depending on your student status. Financial support is available through external and internal sources.

If you are interested, contact the Laboratory leader, Prof. Esteban Ramos (evramos@uc.cl).
